Absolutely terrible customer service. I've been into Effie's twice and both times have been served by an older woman who clearly doesn't care for her job. My party and I waited 15 minutes to be served water and take our orders. She was sharp, bitter and very unfriendly. After receiving our food, we notified her we'd be on seperate checks. She got an exaspterated look on her face and walked away frustrated (there were 2 of us). We ate our meal and after 30 minutes, were ready to leave. I finally approached her and asked for our check and she looked at me and said Just wait. I sat back down, she finally came over with a check and sat and calculated out how to break up a 2-person order (kids, stay in school or you'll work in a place like this). We paid and left - I will NEVER return to Effie's again. Want a giant burger? Make one yourself, save yourself a headache of terrible customer service.

We (party of 6) dined at Effie tavern Sunday may 16th. Food was excellent! We had 3 of the large burgers and split them. The french fries, steak fries and onion rings were excellent as well. They serve a french fry sauce that I would dearly love to get the recipe for. Out here in the midwest (Ohio) they don't have a fry sauce and this was a very pleasant new taste for us. This place is a hole in the wall with cold beer and some of the biggest hamburgers on the planet. It's within walking distance of downtown, a cheap motel, and numerous watering holes close to the river. The staff was very nice and the service was great. If you do order one of their giant burgers, remember that beef takes longer to cook if it's in the form of a massive patty. Order the half burger well-done and it will be the same size as most places' large burger and it will still be juicy.
